Job Description |
The Position: Under the direction of the Regional Program Director, and in collaboration with the Director of Training, the Lead Psychologist simultaneously supervises pre-doctoral psychology interns and trainees and is responsible for developing, carrying out, and modeling an empirically supported psychotherapeutic program for mentally and emotionally disturbed/ill clients; including administration and interpretation of a variety of psycho-diagnostic tests; and preparation of psychological reports.
Responsibilities: Develops and updates empirically supported patient treatment plans for own and supervisees’ clients based on literature review.
Provides evidenced-based treatment to children and their families. Completes psychological assessment of patients. Maintains working knowledge of recent psychological test updates and testing protocols. Performs and supervises psychological testing (including psycho-educational, objective and projective measures), review of prior tests, and report writing. Administers and interprets appropriately chosen psychometric instruments, writes reports, provides recommendations, and provides feedback to client, family, and other clinicians. Maintains consistent individual, group and collateral sessions with patients. Consults with schools, other involved agencies and support systems as clinically indicated. Documents patient treatment and progress for proper maintenance of patient’s record and ensures such documentation for supervisees. Develops and directs interns’ and practicum students’ training. Facilitate referrals to other WYS program as appropriate. Abides by the ethical standards of the American Psychological Association and promoted by the Board of Psychology, and ensures WYS training program meets these standards. In training and supervision, abides by the Guidelines and Principles of the APA Committee on Accreditation. Acts as the program representative when appointed by the Program Director or Program Coordinator. Provides individual and group clinical supervision, and per Agency and APA requirements. Participates in staff training programs, may provide mentoring for other clinicians. Develop one to two areas of clinical expertise and trains intern class in these areas. Provide formal presentations/seminars on evidence based practices and research. Provide strong training relationships and mentor interns/practicum students. Provide direct service for 35 hours/month per .5 FTE (70 hours/month for full time). Supervise the provision of an additional 30 hours per FTE as approved by RPD. Participate in monthly Psychology Training Committee meetings. Support development of supervisees’ knowledge of Empirically Supported Treatments Informs the Program Director or designee of clients requiring special attention. Provides informal oral feedback to interns and students in a timely fashion. Provides written feedback consistent with Internship program requirements and as needed for performance management. Collaborates with the regional Program Coordinator to ensure compliance with M/C standards. Collaborates with Director of Training to ensure training, supervision, and management of interns’ consistent internship Training Manual and APA requirements. Work collaboratively to develop treatment guidelines and best practices consistent with APA and CA Child Welfare Institutional guidelines. Provides leadership through a 3-6 month planning cycle. Maintains working knowledge of Agency policies and procedures, operational and clinical guidelines, HIPAA standards, documentation manual, AB standards and Medi-Cal standards. Participates in key meetings and decisions as appropriate including, but not limited to all mandatory Agency meetings.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology (from an APA approved graduate program preferred), completion of formal organized pre-doctoral internship program, two years experience post degree, one year clinical supervision experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current California Licensure in Psychology required. Working knowledge of B.O.P. laws and regulations required. Working knowledge and demonstrated compliance with APA ethical standards. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret pertinent mental health reports and all applicable regulations. Ability to write clear and concise reports, business correspondence, and procedures with conformance to the prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information orally and in writing in one-on-one, small group, and large groups situations, including the ability to effectively respond to questions from small and large groups of employees, and managers. Bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish preferred.
